A rider is the contract attachment listing everything the DJ needs from the promoter. Touring DJs spend half their lives on the road, so the rider is how they keep working conditions consistent.
The technical rider
Pioneer CDJ-3000s (current generation specifically), a Pioneer DJM-A9 or DJM-V10 mixer, specific monitor setup, USB-A ports, decent headphones if the DJ does not bring their own. Standard, boring, essential.
The hospitality rider
A bottle of water, sparkling and still. Some specific food (pasta, sushi, vegan options) for the artist who flew in eight hours ago. A bottle of decent spirit, often whiskey or vodka, occasionally beer cases. Towels in the booth.
The weird stuff
Most DJ riders are unremarkable. The viral celebrity rider stories (no green M&Ms) are rare in DnB. The strangest items SELECTA has seen: specific brands of energy drink, oat milk for coffee, ear monitors with specific impedance, blackout sunglasses for the green room.
