Cloakrooms are practical infrastructure most ravers under-think. Here is how to use them without earning the side-eye from people behind you in queue.

On the way in

Empty pockets of anything important into your jacket pockets before you queue. Get the ticket. Put the ticket somewhere you cannot lose it (phone case, deep pocket). Walk away.

On the way out

Have your ticket ready before you reach the front of the queue. Have the cash for collection ready (most venues are 2-3 euros). Take your coat, step aside, put it on outside the queue, not at the counter.

The lost ticket

It happens. Cloakroom staff have a system: they hold lost-ticket items at the end of the night. Wait until the queue is gone. Describe the jacket. Most will return it without drama. Some venues charge a small fee.
