In 2022 and the years that followed, a significant number of Russian-speaking music producers and DJs relocated outside Russia. A meaningful share landed in the Baltics. The local DnB scene gained both audience and talent.
Who came
Producers who had been active in the Moscow and St. Petersburg DnB scenes, often with international label connections. Some had been playing European festival circuits already. The relocation was logistically painful but musically transferable.
How the integration worked
Most of the arriving DJs spoke enough English to integrate quickly. Some opened their own studios in Tallinn and Riga. Several have become regular SELECTA support bookings. The scene absorbed them without friction.
The audience effect
Russian-speaking ravers also moved in the same wave. Baltic DnB crowds now have a higher Russian-speaking proportion than they did pre-2022. The scene's linguistic and cultural texture is more layered as a result.
