A short report from the actual SELECTA dancefloor on what people are wearing right now. No takes, just observations.
What is in
- Cargo pants, mostly black. Pockets win.
- Mesh tops and tank tops layered under unzipped jackets.
- Skate shoes, broken-in. The new sneaker thing is over for raves.
- Visible earplugs as a fashion statement, not a hidden compromise.
- Practical bumbags and small crossbody bags.
What is out
- Heels of any kind on the dancefloor.
- White anything that touches the floor.
- Statement coats that you then have to cloakroom.
- Tight jeans that hold sweat all night.
The throughline
Function is winning. The peak-fashion club aesthetic of 2018 is mostly gone, replaced by clothes that survive six hours of dancing. The interesting design moves now are in fabric and fit, not in silhouette.
