Metalheadz is the oldest continuously active drum and bass label. Goldie founded it in 1994. The catalogue is huge and not all of it has aged equally well. Here is what to actually buy.
The foundational records
The early Metalheadz vinyl from 1994-1997 (catalogue numbers METH001 to METH030) is where the canon lives. Goldie's own releases, Photek, Doc Scott, Source Direct, Adam F. Original pressings cost real money now; reissues are easier to find.
The 2000s middle period
Less collectible, more eclectic. Some hidden gems in the Calibre and Marcus Intalex era. Worth digging through Discogs for the right ones rather than buying blind.
The recent run
Modern Metalheadz under Goldie's continued curation has been consistently strong. Lenzman, Total Science, Submorphics releases all worth grabbing on release rather than chasing later. The label still prints physical vinyl. Support that while it lasts.
