Lenzman, real name Etienne Schepers, has built one of the most consistent catalogues in modern drum and bass without ever becoming a household name outside the genre. That consistency is the whole story.
The Metalheadz years
Lenzman came up on Goldie's Metalheadz label in the early 2010s, releasing precision-engineered melodic DnB at a moment when the genre was dominated by either liquid or neuro at their extremes. He found a middle ground that owned itself.
Sublunar Records
In 2017 he launched his own label, The North Quarter, and later Sublunar. Both have become reliable signals for thoughtful, jazz-influenced melodic DnB. Newer producers like FD, Submorphics and Inkitsu have built careers via the label.
The recent ambient turn
Lenzman's 2023-2024 work has drifted toward ambient electronic, with several releases that barely sit at DnB tempo. The catalogue is broadening without losing its identity. Worth watching where this goes.
